Frequently Asked Questions
The following are frequently asked questions about SAPRF membership, matches and the platform.
Do I have to be a member of SAPRF to shoot a Precision Rifle match?
You don't have to be a FULL member of SAPRF, but you must have a SAPRF Number. By registering for FREE, you will get a SAPRF number and be able to shoot any match as a Temporary Day Member.
Remember that by being a FULL member you get your scores recorded on the series leader boards, and you qualify to earn selection to represent your Province and/or Country.
Are there any requirements to becoming a full member?
Yes, there are a couple of things that you need to do before you're able to join SAPRF as a FULL member.
- You must be a member of your local Shooting Club (any type of Shooting Club).
- Your Shooting Club must be a bona fide club with a democratic constitution reflecting the entire membership, and its management committee / office bearers must be elected by the members of the club as per the constitution.
What is a 'Primary Club', and why do I need one?
Your Primary Club is your local Shooting Club where you are a member.
The South African Sports Framework requires that athletes are a member of a recognised Club before they can join a Provincial Sporting Code Association / Federation.
A recognised Club for SAPRF purposes must be any type of 'Shooting Club' that is a bona fide club with a Constitution, and its Management Committee must be elected by the general Members of the Club.
If you are not a member of a local Shooting Club, you need to find a Shooting Club in your local Magisterial District. If there are no Shooting Clubs in your Magisterial District, you will be able to join SAPRF as a member through your Province (but with no voting rights, as only clubs are the members of the Provincial Federation).
How do I select which division I want to shoot in?
You may choose to compete in any of the available Divisions (Open, Limited, Factory, Classic, Ladies Open*, Junior Open*, Senior Open*, Mil/LEO Open*). Shooters are not locked into one division and may choose to compete in one division on a weekend and a different one the next. Your scores are uploaded into the division that you chose to compete in at the match.
