1. General principles#

PR22 rules will follow the centrefire series guidelines and general principles for course of fire, course construction.

Divisions currently for the PR22 / PRS SA Rimfire series will be:

At the Match Director's discretion, matches may also cater for:

Cadets (sub 14 years). Currently not for classification; no log scores calculated.
PCP. Currently not for classification; no log scores calculated.

Only paid-up SAPRF members will be eligible for log scores.
Free members will be restricted to shooting one National match, whereafter he should become a full member. A shooter will be afforded a 7-day grace period after a match to become a full member and have their scores recorded on logs.

Shooters will compete individually. The competitor with the highest score at the end of the match is declared the winner.
Score percentages will be calculated from the overall match winner's score. Division / subdivision score will be calculated from the overall match winner's score. That percentage value score will be the score used for the logs.
Should a Junior want to be included in overall classification, he/she shall be entitled to enter in Open class and will shoot the Open class course of fire. Some matches may allow for extra time, or supports and easier positions for junior class.

Currently no custom loaded ammunition is allowed. Ammunition will be limited to commercially available 40 gn lead bullets.
This is to limit costs and allow for equal accessibility to PR22 for development of the series.

Operate provincially where shooters will have to shoot National Provincial 1-day matches in a division in any province for a provincial series log point.
National Provincial 1-day matches to shoot 8–10 stages with minimum 96 match round count.
Club matches are to be for training and development. Extra time or easier positions may be allowed at the Match Director's discretion. No club logs will be held by SAPRF.

National 2-day matches to shoot 15–16 stages with minimum 166 round count.
Then a PR22 / PRS SA Rimfire Championship match to shoot 16–20 stages with minimum round count to be 200 rounds.
Year-end National SA Championship match to rotate to a different province yearly when possible.

The yearly National leader board will be determined as follows:

Shooters' score from a minimum of 3 National Provincial 1-day PR22 matches — a shooter will be allocated points from 3 of those matches (3 highest scores). Each of those 3 matches will count 10 % each towards selection with a maximum allocation of points being 30 %.
Shooters will have to shoot a minimum of 2 National 2-day matches in a division for a total of 40 % towards season score (20 % per match). Mandatory: 1 of these matches needs to be out of home province.
Shooters' score from the SA Championship match in a division for a total of 30 % towards season score.

In summary:

Federation national colours in PR22 will be applied for to ExCo for the top 5 (or as determined by US PRS) selected to shoot the US PRS Series championship match. This is based on the overall log of the previous year (2025) after the SA championship, and not by division. Invitations will be presented down the log starting from 1st place until all available positions have been filled, to a maximum position of 20th overall on the SA log.
Federation colours in PR22 will be applied for to ExCo for the top shooters per division who represent their province at the SAPRF National Series championship match:
